Originally from Edinburgh, this Victorian ring is even more breathtaking in person than I imagined. Set in rich 18K gold, it features five graduated old round cut diamonds, claw set across the top with a soft, simple shoulder design that lets the stones shine. The sparkle is truly special. Even my husband (who rarely comments on jewelry) was impressed.

Inside the band, you’ll find one of my favorite details: a hand-engraved inscription that reads J F * MDD 15-11-68. That’s November 15, 1868,  just three years after the end of the Civil War. Personal engravings like this add a sense of history, a quiet story that you get to carry forward.

There’s also a maker’s mark, JM & S, and an 18 gold purity stamp. While the maker remains a mystery, the craftsmanship speaks volumes. The five old cut diamonds total an estimated 0.75–0.80 carats, with the center stone measuring approximately 4.5 mm across. Each one is full of antique sparkle and set in delicate claw prongs.

And I’ll be honest,  I almost kept this one for myself. It’s that good.
