Victorian Old European Cut Diamond Solitaire Ring

GIA Certified • Circa 1898 • 1.02 Carat

The romance of an antique diamond is something you can feel instantly—
a softer, more soulful brilliance that modern stones simply cannot replicate.

At the center of this late Victorian ring is a 1.02 carat Old European Cut diamond, hand-cut at the turn of the century. Its broad, chunky facets and elevated crown create a glow that feels almost candlelit...gentle, dimensional, and endlessly captivating, even in low light.

Crafted in 14 karat yellow gold, the setting is where this piece truly distinguishes itself. The shoulders feature delicate openwork detailing, giving the impression that the gold has been carefully carved away rather than cast. From the side, the gallery reveals fleur-de-lis motifs, forming a refined, crown-like structure that cradles the diamond with quiet elegance.

Despite its presence, the ring sits in a lower-profile setting, making it exceptionally comfortable for everyday wear, an increasingly rare and thoughtful detail in antique engagement rings.

A future heirloom, available with payment options at checkout.

🖤 Rise Above Finger: 5.69 mm

What I love most about this ring is how all of the details come together so effortlessly—the hand-cut antique diamond with its soft, glowing sparkle, the beautifully carved goldwork along the shoulders, and that crown-like setting that feels both delicate and strong at the same time. It has so much character, but it’s also incredibly wearable, which isn’t always the case with antique rings. And having the GIA certification just adds that extra layer of confidence, making it as reassuring as it is beautiful.

CONDITION:

This ring is in excellent antique condition, with the warm, softly aged character expected of a late Victorian piece dating to circa 1898. The 14K yellow gold retains a rich, even glow with light surface wear consistent with age, while the delicate openwork shoulders and fleur-de-lis gallery remain beautifully intact and well-defined.

The 1.02 carat Old European Cut diamond is securely set and presents a soft, romantic brilliance typical of early hand-cut stones. As noted on the GIA report, the diamond contains internal and surface characteristics including a feather, crystal, cavity, and a small chip. These are entirely consistent with antique diamonds of this era and are considered part of their natural, unmodernized formation and cutting style. Importantly, none of these characteristics are visible to the naked eye and they do not impact the diamond’s face-up beauty or overall visual appeal.

All of the jewelry listed here is antique and pre-owned, meaning it may show signs of wear, which is a testament to its rich history and the stories it carries. Far from being “perfect” or “brand new,” this is what makes antique pieces so special – they’ve been loved, cherished, and worn over time. I believe that these imperfections only add to their character and charm, and they’re ready for their next chapter with you.

As with all antique jewelry, the stones may show subtle signs of wear, like surface abrasions or a natural patina, which only add to their unique character. Antique cuts and settings can differ from modern styles, contributing to their charm and individuality. Any significant imperfections or repairs will be clearly noted in the listings. Thank you for appreciating the beauty of their uniqueness!

Shipping insurance is required and INCLUDED in cost for any item over $200 to ensure your purchase is fully protected during transit. This listing will also include a signature upon delivery.
